Toronto based studiosmith David Louis signs a punishing plate to Stevenage based independent Repertoire.
One of five stellar productions published as part of the second installment of the North London imprint’s Full Repertoire series of extended players, Minimal turned full-on Drumfunk assault “Rampage” mutates several times throughout it’s four and a half minute run time.
Opening with a stripped down brooding sound, the less is more sonic approach soon gives way to a barrage of intricately sequenced amen break patterns. Bin rattling Sub Bass, Pads, delays, and a myriad of eerie synth sections progress the frenetic pace of “Rampage” back into Halftime territory, with the second iteration prominently featuring a host of percussive elements.
