His widely publicized story serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration for burgeoning young producers across the globe, then 19 year old beatsmith Peter Bennett completely turned the Drum & Bass record industry on its head when publishing monolith Ram Records announced they were signing the relative unknown to an exclusive recording deal. With no previous releases and seemingly having come out of obscurity to secure a coveted spot on Ram‘s talented roster of artists, the Toronto native — who would adopt the music making moniker Bensley — would debut his unique and fresh take on the D&B sound with the release of the Next Generation long player.
Fast forward two years to the present day and the young Canadian phenom is making good on the opportunity afforded to him by Andy C‘s seminal recording imprint. Having honed his skills inside the DJ booth, Bensley has been back in the studio working feverishly to complete his sophomore album.
“Slither” is the first tune to emerge from Bensley‘s highly anticipated follow-up LP — a fascinating shift towards a more dancefloor oriented sound which maintains the melodic synth heavy aesthetic we have come to marvel from the prodigious beatsmith.
